What is ONCHAINID, and how can investor KYC be reused?

ONCHAINID is the on-chain identity system that ERC-3643’s interfaces are built around. A trusted verifier, such as a KYC provider, adds a signed claim to an investor’s identity once. Any ERC-3643 token that trusts that verifier accepts the claim, so the investor doesn’t repeat the check for every product. The personal data stays with the verifier.

Key facts

  • Each wallet links to an identity contract.
  • Claims are signed by verifiers (trusted issuers) and can be revoked by them.
  • Each token lists the verifiers it trusts and the claims it requires.
  • Several tokens can share one identity registry storage, so an investor is registered once for all of them.

What is on chain?

The identity contract and signed claims. The documents behind a KYC check aren’t stored on chain.

Who decides which verifiers count?

Each token’s owner, through the Trusted Issuers Registry and the Claim Topics Registry.
